Ikea Australia Overview

IKEA is known worldwide as an innovative furniture and home décor company.  The shared global vision of the IKEA brand is to create a better everyday life for people. With its roots in Sweden, it has expanded globally from its humble beginnings.  Inspired by its founder Ingvar Kamprad, IKEA culture and values permeate all throughout its stores worldwide.  It values and culture of enthusiasm, togetherness, and willpower shapes everything they do.  As of August 2016, IKEA has 340 stores in 28 countries. IKEA works hard to optimise their entire value chain, build long-term supplier relationships, invest in highly automated production and produce large volumes. IKEA’s vision goes beyond home furnishings, with the goal of creating a better life for all people being impacted by their business.

IKEA offers a comprehensive array of well-designed and functional home furnishing products.  IKEA is also known for its affordable prices. IKEA combines function, quality, design and value – with sustainability at its core. IKEA is known worldwide for what they call their democratic design process.  IKEA furniture buyers get involved in the process by assembling flat-pack products.

In 2015, Ikea celebrated its 40th year in Australia.  Since 1975, Ikea’s goal has been to better the lives of Australians, making them live sustainable lives at home.

Ikea Customer Service

All Ikea stores in Australia are geared towards the best service that they could give to their customers.  Ikea customer service is well-known worldwide, and Australian stores get the full benefits of this infamous service.

Here are the services that Ikea offers:

  • Picking with Delivery

Furniture purchased at Ikea can be delivered to a customer’s home or office.  Customers can prepare their shopping list at home or while browsing in the store.  Prices start at $99, which includes delivery fee. Picking with delivery service is only available for flatpacks and items from the self-serve furniture area.

  • Home Delivery Service

Customers can book a home delivery service, with prices ranging from $59.00 only. The Ikea delivery service is a next-day service, seven days a week. Extra-large deliveries may incur additional charges. If items are too bulky, customers have the option of renting a van to transport items. Customers can join a membership-based car sharing service called GoGet, where they can book a vehicle on-the-spot.

  • Assembly Service

IKEA products are well-known worldwide as being assembled by buyers themselves, with the aim of saving money.  However, IKEA has provided various installation options that fit customers’ needs. There are assembly instructions provided with the product itself.  Assembly instructions can also be found on the website. IKEA’s FIXA product range has all the tools needed for assembly.  Assembly and Installation services give customers a helping hand in setting up their purchases in their home or office.

Ikea customer service also includes tools to help customers design their space.  Ikea offers a Kitchen Quick Quote tool, tips on getting precise measurements, IKEA Home Planner, Storage Planners, Office Planner, and PAX Wardrobe Planner.

The IKEA Kitchen Planning tool has three options:  (1) In-store assisted kitchen planning, which is free for all customers; (2) In-store 1-on-1 kitchen planning with an IKEA kitchen Specialist, which costs $99 for a 2-hour session; (3) In-home kitchen planning, which is a 3-hour session and measuring service which costs $299; and (4) Online Kitchen planning for $99.

The IKEA ‘Plan Your Visit’ online tour helps customers follow a step-by-step plan to make the IKEA shopping experience more valuable and hassle-free.  The recommended steps are: (1) browse online; (2) create a shopping list; (3) check stock levels, and (4) find your local store.

IKEA Business is a special service for businesses to get their furnishings and accessories with features such as lifetime returns policy, free store-to-business insurance, 10% to 40% off on a range of planet-friendly products, and much more.
